The short answer

If your gym has gone into liquidation, file a Proof of Debt with the liquidator first.

  • For True Fitness and True Yoga that is RSM's Creditors' Portal, and RSM gives no deadline and says no recovery can be guaranteed.
  • If you paid by card, also raise a dispute with your bank: UOB asks True Fitness members to claim within 60 days of the clubs closing on 11 September 2026, so by about 10 November 2026.

Key facts

  • True Fitness Pte. Ltd. and True Yoga Pte. Ltd. went into provisional liquidation on 10 Sep 2026 and stopped operating on 11 Sep 2026. RSM are the provisional liquidators
  • Members claim by filing a Proof of Debt on RSM's Creditors' Portal with the company's UEN: True Fitness 199705759N, True Yoga 200410345Z
  • RSM: unused packages and memberships generally rank as ordinary unsecured claims, and no recovery can be guaranteed
  • UOB asks card members to dispute within 60 days of the services ceasing, and no later than 500 days from the transaction

What should you do first if your gym closes?

  1. 01Gather your recordsYour contract or package receipt, every payment (card statements, PayNow or bank transfer records), and anything showing how many sessions or months were left. Screenshots of the gym's app are worth saving before it goes offline.
  2. 02Find out whether the company is in liquidationA notice on the door or the gym's social pages usually names the liquidator. If it does, every claim goes through them.
  3. 03File a Proof of Debt with the liquidatorThis is the formal claim for what the company owes you. For True Fitness and True Yoga, RSM takes claims on its Creditors' Portal.
  4. 04If you paid by card, dispute the charge with your bankBanks have time limits, so do this in the same week, not after the liquidation ends.
  5. 05Stop recurring paymentsRSM said it was instructing payment processors to cancel future deductions for True Fitness members. Check your next statement anyway, and tell your bank if a charge still appears.
  6. 06Report it to CASEThe Consumers Association of Singapore collects complaints and has used the totals to press for new safeguards.

How do you claim from True Fitness or True Yoga?

File a Proof of Debt with the liquidators, RSM, on their Creditors' Portal, with your supporting documents and the right company's UEN: True Fitness Pte. Ltd. is 199705759N and True Yoga Pte. Ltd. is 200410345Z. RSM's member FAQ gives no closing date for claims.

On 7 October 2026 the shareholders of both companies voted for a creditors' voluntary liquidation, and about 3,300 creditors had filed claims by then, according to an RSM media statement reported by The Straits Times and VnExpress International (12 October 2026).

Will you get your money back?

Possibly some, probably not all, and not soon. RSM's FAQ says members' claims for unused packages or memberships "will generally rank as ordinary unsecured claims", which means they are paid only after secured creditors and preferential claims such as staff wages, and that "no recovery can be guaranteed".

The last large precedent is not encouraging: when California Fitness closed in 2016 it owed about 27,000 members S$20.8 million, and its liquidators said there would be no refunds. Filing a Proof of Debt costs nothing, and it is the only way to share in whatever the liquidation does recover.

Can you dispute a card payment after a gym closes?

Yes, and for many members this is the better chance. A card dispute (a chargeback) asks your bank to reverse a payment for a service you paid for and did not get. Banks set their own time limits:

UOBFile a Proof of Debt with the liquidators first, prepare the documents in its FAQ, then email card.centre@uobgroup.comWithin 60 days of the services ceasing (11 Sep 2026, so by about 10 Nov 2026), and no later than 500 days from the transactionUOB notice

Other banksCall your card issuer and ask for its gym-closure processAsk. Card schemes set limits counted from the transaction or the closureYour bank

A dispute is not guaranteed either: UOB says the outcome depends on the timing, your documents, its review, the card scheme's rules and any response from the merchant's bank. PayNow, bank transfers and cash have no equivalent route, which is one reason to pay a large prepayment by credit card.

Can you take a closed gym to the Small Claims Tribunals?

Not without the Court's permission once the company is in liquidation. RSM's notice points to section 170 of the Insolvency, Restructuring and Dissolution Act 2018: no action or proceeding may be started or continued against the companies except with the permission of the Court.

The Small Claims Tribunals hear claims up to S$30,000, but against a company in liquidation the Proof of Debt is the practical route. Get legal advice if your claim is large.

Do gym packages in Singapore come with a cooling-off period?

Not by law. Singapore's statutory cooling-off right under the Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) (Cancellation of Contracts) Regulations covers direct sales, timeshare and long-term holiday product contracts, so a package signed at a gym counter is not covered unless the gym offers one itself.

On 5 October 2026 CASE proposed a mandatory cooling-off period for high-value prepaid packages, compulsory CaseTrust accreditation for businesses that take large prepayments, and an investigation into wrongful trading.

In a 3 March 2026 written reply, the government had declined to require segregated accounts for prepayments, pointing instead to the fair trading law, which already makes it unfair to take payment for something a business knows it cannot supply, and to a Consumer Protection Review Panel due to report later in the year. As of 24 October 2026 none of CASE's proposals is law.

What are the warning signs before a gym closes?

There is rarely a clear one, but members of True Fitness told MS News of repeated, unusually aggressive package pitches in the weeks before it closed. Treat these as reasons to pause before prepaying anywhere:

  • A hard push to renew or upgrade long before your current package runs out
  • Steep discounts that only apply if you pay for a large block today
  • Pressure to switch from card to a bank transfer or PayNow
  • Staff or trainers leaving, classes cut, or equipment left broken
  • Recurring news of late payments to staff or landlords

Pressing a customer to sign through undue pressure is itself an unfair practice under the fair trading law. If a business is a company, ACRA sells its filed financial statements for a small fee, which tells you whether it has filed recent accounts at all.

How do you buy personal training without risking a large prepayment?

  1. 01Buy the smallest block you will actually useA 10% discount on 50 sessions is not a saving if the business closes after 20. The personal trainer cost guide shows what a month of training costs at each frequency.
  2. 02Pay a large prepayment by credit card,So a chargeback is possible, and keep the receipt that lists the sessions bought.
  3. 03Get the terms in writing before payingHow long the sessions last, whether they expire or can be frozen, what happens to unused sessions if you stop, and what happens if the business or the coach stops.
  4. 04Ask whether the business is CaseTrust-accredited,And check that its company is live and filing accounts with ACRA.
  5. 05Try the coach before the packageA single paid trial tells you more about fit than any pitch, and how to choose a personal trainer lists what to check in that first session.

How do Fit Titans packages work?

Fit Titans is a coach-matching agency, not a gym, so there is no membership and no facility to close: your coach trains you at home, in your condo gym or outdoors. How that compares with a gym membership is in personal trainer or gym. We say plainly what our own client terms say, because the questions above apply to us too:

  • The first session is a paid trial at 10% off the coach's rate, before you commit to anything larger.
  • After the trial, training is sold as a package of at least 5 sessions. Where the coach uses the pack ladder, larger packs take a discount off that coach's rate: 5 sessions 0% off, 10 sessions 5% off, 15 sessions 10% off, 20 sessions 15% off. A coach not on the ladder agrees the package with you in writing.
  • Paid sessions do not expire.
  • If the coach has to stop part-way through your package, the unused sessions are refunded.
  • If you choose to stop part-way, there is no refund for the remaining sessions. Buy the size you will use.
  • Packs are paid by PayNow, invoiced before the pack starts. PayNow has no chargeback, so the protection here is the size of the commitment: one paid trial first, then packs from 5 sessions rather than a year paid up front.
  • The same rule applies to us. If Fit Titan Pte Ltd itself stopped trading, unused prepaid sessions would rank as an ordinary unsecured claim, like any gym package. There is no other protection, which is why our pack ladder stops at 20 sessions.

Rates for each coach are on our pricing page, and the gym personal trainer price guide compares them with the chains, with memberships added.

Questions.

Is there a deadline to claim from True Fitness or True Yoga?

RSM, the liquidators, give no closing date for Proof of Debt claims on their member FAQ (read 24 October 2026). Card disputes do have limits: UOB asks members to claim within 60 days of the clubs closing on 11 September 2026, so by about 10 November 2026.

Can I get a refund for a True Fitness package I paid by PayNow?

Only through the liquidation. PayNow and bank transfers have no chargeback, so file a Proof of Debt with RSM on its Creditors' Portal. RSM says unused packages rank as ordinary unsecured claims and recovery cannot be guaranteed. If you paid by card instead, UOB asks True Fitness members to dispute within 60 days of the 11 September 2026 closure.

Will True Fitness members get their money back?

RSM has said it is too early to know. Members' claims rank as ordinary unsecured claims, paid after secured and preferential creditors. Members who paid by card may do better through a bank dispute than through the liquidation. Either way, file a Proof of Debt on RSM's Creditors' Portal. RSM gives no deadline.

Can I cancel a gym package within 5 days in Singapore?

Not by law. The statutory cooling-off right covers direct sales, timeshare and holiday products, not a package bought at a gym. Some gyms offer their own cooling-off period, so ask for it in writing before you pay. Pay any large prepayment by credit card, where a chargeback is possible.

Does CaseTrust protect my gym package?

CaseTrust is a voluntary accreditation, and as of 24 October 2026 no law requires gyms to hold it. CASE proposed on 5 October 2026 that businesses taking large prepayments should have to. Ask any gym whether it is accredited and what protects your prepayment.

Are Fit Titans sessions refundable?

If your coach stops part-way through a package, the unused sessions are refunded. If you stop part-way, they are not. The trial is a single paid session at 10% off, sessions do not expire, packages start at 5 sessions, and payment is by PayNow, which has no card chargeback, as set out in our client terms.
