What does HYROX training with a personal trainer involve?

A coach builds your weeks backwards from race day so you can run 1 km hard, do a heavy station, and run again eight times without falling apart. HYROX describes the race as a 1 km run followed by one workout station, repeated eight times, on its race format page.

The 26/27 singles rulebook adds that the running distance is the same in every division, 8 km in total, and only the weights and repetitions change. So most training is two things at once: running economy when your legs are already loaded, and station technique that wastes no energy.

At Fit Titans you are matched with Ehvin or Melvin. Ehvin is an NCSF Certified Personal Trainer and a HYROX Level 1 Coach, the two certifications his profile lists, with 3 years of coaching on his record.

Melvin is an NCSF Certified Personal Trainer with a Basic Exercise Science certificate from Republic Polytechnic. He races HYROX himself and has taken part in multiple HYROX events, as his profile says, but holds no HYROX coaching certificate. Both come to you, so there is no gym membership to buy.

What are the eight HYROX stations and weights?

Every station comes after a 1 km run, in the order below. In the singles divisions the distances and reps are the same, and only the weights change.

The HYROX stations in race order, from hyrox.com and the HYROX 26/27 singles rulebook, read 30 October 2026

Sled pull50 m (4 x 12.5 m)
Burpee broad jumps80 m
Rowing1 km
Farmers carry200 m
Sandbag lunges100 m
Wall balls100 reps

The weights come in three sets. Every division races one of them, as the 26/27 singles, Doubles and Relay rulebooks set them out. Sled weights include the sled, and the SkiErg, row and burpee broad jumps carry no extra load.

  3. 03Men ProMen Pro and Doubles Men Pro race this set.
  4. 04Mixed RelayA team of two women and two men, under the Relay rulebook.

The rulebook's movement standards matter as much as fitness. On the lunges, the trailing knee must clearly touch the ground on every rep. Each wall ball starts standing tall and must hit the target after a full squat. A coach drills these until they hold up under fatigue, because the lunges and wall balls come after 7 km of running.

Which HYROX division should you enter?

  1. 01OpenIs the standard race, and the usual place to start. The rulebook says HYROX is open to everyone and needs no qualification.
  2. 02ProUses the heavier loads listed above, and HYROX pitches it at experienced racers.
  3. 03DoublesIs two of you. HYROX says you run together and split each station between you however you choose.
  4. 04RelayIs a team of four. Each teammate runs 1 km and does a station, twice over.
  5. 05AgeRacers must be at least 16 on race day. HYROX Youngstars is a separate race for ages 8 to 15.

Doubles changes how you train. The running is the full 8 km for both of you, but you share the station work, so a coach plans your run pace and who takes which part of each station around your two sets of strengths. If you race as a pair, train as a pair. See the cost section for the shared rate.

When is the next HYROX race in Singapore?

AIA HYROX Singapore runs from Thursday 26 to Sunday 29 November 2026 at Singapore EXPO, 1 Expo Drive, according to the HYROX event page read on 30 October 2026. Its provisional wave schedule, which it says is subject to change, puts Open men on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and Open women on Thursday, Friday and Sunday.

Men Pro and Women Pro race on Friday, Doubles Pro on Saturday, men's and women's relays on Saturday evening, and the mixed relay on Sunday evening. Doubles Mixed runs on three of the four days. The last wave each day is estimated to start around 8 pm.

Race entry is separate from coaching. The event page does not show ticket prices, and the rulebook says HYROX events are registered only through hyrox.com.

How many weeks do you need to train for HYROX?

Plan on 8 to 12 weeks for a first race if you already exercise. UFIT, a HYROX training gym in Singapore, recommends starting 8 to 12 weeks before race day.

The race preparation programmes HYROX lists on its own site run to the same length: HWPO's is 8 weeks, pitched at a first race or one or two past races, and Centr's programmes are 12 weeks. If you are new to running, tell your coach, who will start lighter and may suggest a later race.

If you are reading this in early November 2026, a few weeks is too short to build fitness, but it is enough to learn the stations, pace your first runs and rehearse the transitions. A coach will spend that time on technique and pacing, not on piling on volume. For a later race, count back from the date you pick and plan your sessions from there.

How do HYROX sessions with our coaches work?

Your coach starts from a paid first session, plans back from your race date, and spends the coached sessions on running under load, station technique and a race rehearsal, in five steps:

  1. 01First session: where you are nowA timed run, a look at each station you can do where you train, and questions about past injuries and your race date. It is a paid session at 10% off.
  2. 02A plan to race dayYour coach sets how many coached sessions a week you need and what you do alone, usually your easy runs.
  3. 03Compromised runningRuns straight after a station, so pace holds when your legs are full.
  4. 04Station technique and strengthWall ball depth and target, lunge knee touch, burpee broad jump rhythm, and the leg and grip strength for sled and carry.
  5. 05A simulation before race weekA rehearsal of runs and stations in race order, using what your venue has, then a lighter final week.

Ehvin's profile says he plans around your goals, your weekly schedule and any past injuries, and offers HYROX-style conditioning if you want a race to train for. Melvin's lists HYROX race preparation for first-timers or regulars, and also IPPT preparation.

Ask either one how they would split your week before you buy a pack. We cannot promise a finishing time: that depends on where you start and how many weeks you have.

What does a HYROX training week look like around office hours?

Here is one way a coach might lay out three sessions a week around a desk job, with one coached session and two done alone from the plan. It is an example to show the shape of a week, not a programme. Your coach sets the real split after your first session, and starts lighter if you are new to running.

The other days are rest or easy walking. Outdoor runs go early in the morning or after sunset, away from the midday heat that the Singapore General Hospital article in the safety section warns about.

With more time, a second coached session a week takes the Saturday slot. The cost section prices both: one coached session a week is a 10-session pack over 10 weeks, two a week is a 20-session pack.

Where can you train for HYROX near you in Singapore?

At your home, a condo gym or a park. Melvin covers the east, around Tampines, Bedok and Pasir Ris. Here is what each one lists, from their own profiles on 30 October 2026:

  • Melvin: Tampines, Bedok, Pasir Ris, Upper Changi and Kallang. Sessions at your home, a condo or private gym, outdoors and in parks, or online.
  • Ehvin: he has not listed areas on his profile yet, so tell us where you train and we confirm whether he can reach you before you book. Sessions at a condo or private gym, your home, a commercial gym, outdoors and in parks, or online.

In the west or the north, such as Jurong, Clementi or Woodlands, Melvin's areas do not reach you. If no coach can, both list online sessions for the plan and the technique checks, and the HYROX gym finder below shows where to get time on a sled and a SkiErg near you. You can also ask us whether a strength and conditioning coach covers your area.

A park or a running track covers the 8 km. The stations take more planning. Check what your condo gym has before the first session: a rower and dumbbells cover a lot, and wall balls, a sandbag and farmers carry handles are easy to bring.

A sled and a SkiErg are the usual gaps. Your coach can stand in for them with other leg drive and pulling work, and you can get time on the real equipment at a gym that has it.

For a gym with HYROX kit and classes, HYROX runs its own gym finder, searched by postcode or area. Fitness First Singapore said on 30 October 2026 that its HYROX classes, called Foundational, Engine, Power and Complete, run at all its Singapore clubs, and offered non-members a complimentary first class.

It published no class price. A class teaches a group the race. A coach plans your own weeks and watches your form, and some people do both.

How much does HYROX training cost in Singapore?

Ehvin and Melvin each publish S$90 for a 60-minute 1-to-1 session, so your first session, a paid trial, is S$81. After it, both sell 1-to-1 training in packs of 5, 10, 15 or 20 sessions, and the larger packs take a little off each session.

Training with your Doubles partner costs less per head, and a Relay team of four can train as a small group. Each coach sets their own rate. On our roster as a whole, sessions start from S$50 and most charge S$80 to S$130 (measured October 2026).

One coached session a week for the same 10 weeks, with your easy runs done alone from the plan, is a 10-session pack at S$855. A Doubles pair training with Melvin pays S$130 a session between you, and a Relay team of four in a small group pays S$180 between you.

Pair and small-group rates are per person per session, confirmed in writing before you book. Paid sessions never expire, and you give 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. If the coach is not right for you, tell us and we will try to match you with another, where one is free.

For comparison, here is what other Singapore providers publish for HYROX coaching. UFIT is the only one we found with a price on its own page. Fitness First and Virgin Active run HYROX classes but publish no price, so ask them for a per-session figure in writing.

When should you get medical clearance before HYROX training?

HYROX is demanding: 8 km of running with heavy pushing, lunging and squatting in between, and it carries a real risk of injury. Two things a coach watches for are running volume added too fast, and lunges and wall balls ground out with poor form once you are tired. See a doctor before you start if any of these apply:

  • Chest pain, unusual breathlessness, palpitations or fainting during exercise, or a heart condition.
  • Blood pressure or diabetes that is not under control.
  • Surgery in the last few months, or pregnancy.
  • Knee, hip or back pain that is there before you train, or an injury that has not been assessed. Get a physiotherapist's view first.

The PAR-Q+ Collaboration's PAR-Q+ is a standard questionnaire for checking readiness for more activity, and a quick way to see whether you need clearance. Heat is the other Singapore factor for outdoor runs.

A Singapore General Hospital article (first published in The Straits Times, 31 December 2024) lists the early signs of heat injury as dizziness, nausea, vomiting, hot and dry skin, cramps, cold and clammy limbs, and confusion, and advises rest, hydration and food beforehand, light clothing, avoiding the midday heat and not training when unwell.

Stop the session and tell your coach at any of those signs, or if you are short of breath out of proportion to the effort. This page is general guidance, not medical advice.

What should you ask a HYROX coach before you book?

Ask how they would plan your weeks, not how fast they race. A good answer names your division and race date, how many coached sessions a week you need and what you do alone, how the sled and SkiErg get covered where you train, and when you test progress. These five questions get you there:

  • Which division and race are you planning me for, and how many weeks do we have?
  • How many coached sessions a week, and what do I do alone?
  • What equipment do you need where I train, and how do we cover a sled or a SkiErg if there is none?
  • How will we test progress, and when is the race simulation?
  • If I race Doubles, can my partner join the same sessions, and at what rate?

Strength and conditioning for other sports is covered in strength and conditioning coaches, and running tests in IPPT and NAPFA training. For hard conditioning without a race, a boxing personal trainer holds pads for you in timed rounds at home or in a condo gym.

HYROX training questions.

Can a beginner do HYROX?

Yes. HYROX's rulebook says the race is open to everyone and needs no qualification, and Open is the standard division. What matters is being able to run 8 km in total with stations in between, at your own pace. A coach sets the starting point from a timed run and the stations you can already do.

How much is HYROX training in Singapore?

With Ehvin or Melvin, our HYROX coaches, S$81 for the first 60-minute 1-to-1 session, then S$90 a session in a 5-pack (S$450) down to S$76.50 a session in a 20-pack (S$1,530). Training as a pair is S$65 to S$70 a head, and a small group is S$45 a head with Ehvin or Melvin (Melvin's record says 3 to 4 people), read on 30 October 2026. UFIT publishes group personal training for Doubles teams from S$105 a session per person. The race entry itself is booked through hyrox.com and is not included.

Can I train for HYROX without a gym?

Mostly. Running, burpee broad jumps, lunges with a sandbag, wall balls and farmers carries all work at home, in a condo gym or in a park. A sled and a SkiErg are the usual gaps. A coach substitutes other leg drive and pulling work and you get time on the real equipment at a gym that has it.

When is HYROX in Singapore?

AIA HYROX Singapore is on 26 to 29 November 2026 at Singapore EXPO, 1 Expo Drive, according to HYROX's event page on 30 October 2026. Its provisional wave schedule is subject to change, so check the event page before you plan your training around a particular race day.

Can my Doubles partner train with me?

Yes. Ehvin and Melvin both publish a rate for two: S$70 a head with Ehvin and S$65 a head with Melvin. Pair and small-group rates are per person per session, confirmed in writing before you book. Training together lets the coach plan who takes which share of each station, which HYROX lets Doubles pairs split however they choose.

How old do you need to be to race HYROX?

At least 16 on race day, under the HYROX 26/27 singles rulebook. HYROX Youngstars is a separate race for ages 8 to 15, and the Singapore event page says it is held in Singapore too.

Published . Each coach sets their own rate, confirmed before you book.
